Project Phoenix

Product Design Lead
The Problem
Our install base was low and stagnant. Our UX was based on the latest iOS design and not adhering to what a user would come to expect from the Android platform. Our app didn’t scale beyond phone.
Goals
To bring our Android app up to par with our iOS offering. To build a consistent and platform specific experience that abides by Material Design at its core. To deliver an experience our users deserve.

Keynote Animations

I utilized Apple Keynote's elegant animation tools to convey microinteractions to my developers. Here is an example of a FAB (Floating Action Button) morphing into a menu.

Another Example

Android Style Guide

Here is an example of a style guide created towards the beginning of the project in collaboration with another designer on our vendors side. This guide helped inform our developers to baseline styles, and layout guides for building a universal application with multiple breakpoints.

The Outcome

Our Google Play Store rating is at an all-time high at 4.6 Stars. Leveraging Material design was a great way to implement our brand on the platform and the app was well received by our users. We are still chasing iOS feature parity.
